Highway 401 rail tunnel | Ontario

Sainte-Julie, August 7th, 2018 – GKM Consultants Inc. is pleased to announce that Toronto Tunnel Partners (TTP) has retained our services with Sixense Canada to assist their team in completing the Geotechnical Instrumentation Monitoring Plan (GIMP) for Regional Express Rail – Highway 401 rail tunnel construction which will take place starting this fall for 42-month period.

TTP has been selected as the preferred proponent to design, build and finance the development of an upgraded rail tunnel infrastructure beneath the 401 for Infrastructure Ontario and Metrolinx.  TTP is an equal partnership joint venture between EllisDon Civil and Strabag Inc.

For the past 6 months our engineering team has worked closely with TTP engineering representatives, Wood PLC to develop a state of the art monitoring program with industry leading technologies to meet the very challenging and stringent project requirements.  ‘’Now the fun part can begin with the instrument installations and commissioning of an exhaustive automatic data acquisition system that will start collecting baseline conditions for a 6-month period prior to the commencement of construction’’ says Stephane-Eric Thivierge, President of GKM Consultants Inc.
